From an idea to design and construction, we continually collaborate with our clients and consultants to provide landscape garden design solutions that are well considered and fit for purpose.
Landscape Design Process & Services
-
The design process begins with a consultation. Our lead Landscape Architect, Castiel will meet with you for about an hour. We’ll chat about your vision, favourite garden styles, lifestyle and functional requirements and budget considerations.
This is an essential step to ensure we have a full understanding of your goals before embarking on a design or providing guidance or advice.
Consultations may incur an initial fee for our time and provide an opportunity for us to discuss potential directions for your garden, and whether our design services are the right fit for you.
-
Have some ideas but where to next?
Perhaps you aren’t ready to commit to a full design yet? Or just need some professional advice to get moving with your own DIY?
We can help get the creative juices flowing by providing high-level design advice to guide you toward your dream garden. This may involve a site visit, and tasks may include provision of advice such as plant species or material recommendations, planning considerations, collecting example images and general site layout sketches.
-
Let’s get designing!
We’ll visit your site to better understand the existing conditions, opportunities and constraints; and undertake desktop research to ascertain any local policy requirements and guidelines.
We will develop an initial concept design plan to scale for review and discussion. Concept plans can be accompanied by example imagery to help visualise the design.
Initial plant palettes and materials palettes can also be provided.
-
Should your landscape project require town planning approval, we can prepare the landscape concept plan to a level of detail suitable for submission to the relevant authority.
In addition to the landscape plan, additional information that can be provided may include typical specification notes for tree protection, maintenance or irrigation regimes, permeable area or deep soil area achievements, quantified planting plans and schedules, or typical landscape details.
-
We can take your concept design to the next level by providing dimensioned layout and materials and finishes plans with a detailed materials, finishes and furniture schedule, quantified planting set out plan and plant schedule, landscape construction details and technical notes for outdoor landscape elements.
At this point we may recommend seeking input from specialist consultants including irrigation design, pool design, lighting design or civil engineering. We can liaise with and coordinate the garden design with other consultants to ensure a holistic design package is provided.
The level of detail provided should enable detailed cost planning in preparation for construction.
-
Once a contractor has been engaged, we can update the landscape detail design drawings, schedules and specification notes so they are construction ready. This may include coordination with your contractor, other specialist designers and engineers and value management design adjustments.
-
You’re ready to build!
We can help oversee the construction process to ensure everything goes smoothly and according to plan.
Tasks may include responding to contractor requests for information, site inspections, reviewing material samples or construction drawings, plant selection, inspections and set out, and maintenance inspections and advice.
